Lita Rossana Ford (also known by the name Lita Ford) is an British born American guitarist who was as the lead vocalist for The Runaways a female hard rock group from the 1970s. They gained attention for their rebellious lyrics and punkish style. The band didn't have any fans in The United States. However, the group's popularity increased abroad and especially in Japan. Ford had a long and successful career as a solo heavy metal artist after the group split together in 1979. After taking lessons in singing, she released her solo debut album, 'Out for Blood'. This was followed by the release of her second album, 'Dancin' On The Edge'. Both albums failed to get much attention and Ford was largely absent from the rock world for several years. In 1988, Ford released her smash album "Lita". The song "Kiss me Deadly" and ballad "Close My Eyes forever" were huge hits. Unfortunately, her popularity was brief and she disappeared from the music industry for a number of decades. After releasing 'Black, in 1995, and 'Wicked Wonderland, 15 years later she reemerged. In 2016, her most recent album, 'Timecapsule', was released. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
