Luciana was raised at home in Rome with her grandparents. Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi who was an Italian military officer. Her mom was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was at one time Benito Mussolini's lovers. It is not known if there were any siblings. She attended a local high school, and after entering the college in 1955, she pursued marine engineering in the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the only woman in the class. Luciana first became a fashion model after just two years. Her professional career took a turn afterwards, when by pure chance, she got her first role on screen in Three Coins in the Fountain. Brett Halsey, an actor herself, was her first husband. The couple got married in the year 1960 and filmed the film Return to the Peyton Palace. Luciana had custody of Charles who was born on June 13, 1961. They divorced the following year. Between 1962 and the year 1970 Luciana was with Tony Athony, who was an actor and producer. He was inspired by her work in the film Green Slime and based on his script and production of this hybrid Spaghetti Western for which he was a bit of a hit.
